I like this place a lot so far.

Itīs a gives off a much friendlier and safer appeal than the last two places weīve been. It also seems to have a more western feel and i could see it fitting in very well somewhere on the Queensland coast.

We took it easy on the Fri Night after our 7 hour bus ride. We then went to the beach the next day but there was no surf and it was cold. we started walking down the beach before we hitched a ride with a local named Eddy. Real nice guy. He dropped us at a wharf and gave us his number and said ījust give me a call if ever you need me, i donīt mindī. He always said í donīt mindī. We then jumped on a cruise boat around the bay for $4aus and saw a bunch of mammoth seals and big black pelicans.

Once we were ashore we started walking towards the enormous cross that stood on a hill overlooking Coquimbo and neighboring city La Serena big black pelicans

. on the way up we couldnīt shake this irrit of a man who pointed toward the cross and therefore thought he deserved compensation for showing us the way to go (you can see this cross from like 500 km away). Eventually i forcefully laid my hand on his chest and threw him a real evil glare and the bugger pissed off. We are now used to everyone wanting money from you for nothing. I know how you feel dad:)

That night we headed out to a club. We knew that everyone in South America smoked but we werenīt prepared for this. I think as soon as i entered i probably inhaled a small lung cancer. Iīm surprised i could see the other side of the room. Me and linz sat down and had a drink and realised that everyone in the room couldnīt stop looking at us (especially the ladies, 'but i donīt mind'). We began talking to some people (or at least trying, we hardly speak the lanuage), and it was good to see that they were as enthusiastic to try and commuinicate as we were. Before we knew it some girls had grabbed our jackets and put them in the coat room, then dragged us to the dancefloor (you donīt dance on the dance floor by yourself in in a group of guys here. you must have a partner... from what i gather). I had no idea what i was doing but after a few beers i didn't really care. The night went on and one girl just wouldn't leave linz alone. she kept pointing at the sentence in our phrasebook that said 'i really like you' cannon

. Ufortunately for him we had gotten stuck in quite the pickle that only he could fix and it meant befriending this girl. As we all know there were budget issues from the start. we realised we were in a club at least 5-10 km from home, weīd spent all our money, and our jackets were in the possession of the girls tht had our ticket for the coat room. Thus, upsetting this girl meant walking the whole way home in the cold without jackets, and befriending meant getting our jackets as well as a lift as she was driving. So while i was off galavanting around the club and meeting people, Linz was stuck for hours with this girl whose only communication was pointing at a line in a book and smiling. Eventually we left the club and got driven home by this girl and her friend. They weren't shy about making it well known that they would like to come in but being the gentlemen that we were, we graciously declined. Also because they were ugly. We then woke with a burning throat, a stingin headache and a story for old lazy bones.
