Firstly, this is my first attempt at Travel Pod so don´t have any high expectations. Here are the highlights so far-
- climbing to the top of the highest point in santiago where a giant statue of the virgin mary watches over the entire city. It`s awesome to gain a perspective of how big the city is. You can see the Andes surrounding the city but the view is a little blocked by the amount of smog the city has. I also thouroughly enjoyed the descent whereby Linz tripped, went to ground and began to slide down the hill in much the same way a seal would slide accross a rock (or dom would slide accross a rock)
- seeing the entire city being a barren ghost town when church is on and then with the strike of a bell it`s as bustling as any other city
- Enjoying some traditional seafood and `pisco sour` (cocktail). Although seafood is meant to be the shit here in Chile it has nothing on everpresent dogtown (a hot dog store every five to ten shops). The dogs (called completos) come with tomato and avacado and four sauces and you can get a double dog and a bebida for $750 ($2Aus)
- Despite the fact that we eat all these hot dogs neither me nor Linz have experienced diarheoa
- Linz not knowing how much to pay for a cab so handing his money over to the cab driver to do it for him. Needless to say he payed $30US instead of $10US. And me, being the stupid gringo that i am, getting sucked into spending $20US on a gambling game in the street that was clearly rigged, but i was too tired/stupid for the warning bells to go off (i thought i was a shoe in)
- Being the main attraction in South America. Everybody is always looking at us and they are not afraid to stare. We are asked to be in photos sometimes but more often than not we just see a flash and look up to see some random pointing a camera at us. I suppose they`re not used to seein a big blonde Sausage walking the street.
