Pat writes:  We have been without wi-fi for a couple of nights.  Monday, we were "on the hook" in the river.  Very pleasant evening in a cove with calm water all night.  However, the night air attracted bugs which blanketed the deck of the boat.  When we made our way to Goose Pond Marina the following day, our cruising companions, Marilyn and Jim Laricks, volunteered to help clean the boat much to the appreciation of the Captain and Admiral!.

Jim and Marilyn have also helped us navigate through two locks since leaving Chattanooga.  Going down river we've noticed the leaves are turning to more vivid colors and it's been a peaceful journey meandering along.  Last night we stayed at a marina we had been in on the up river trip - Ditto Landing, where several other boats were also docked.  One of the captains was celebrating his 80th birthday and his wife had baked a cake and asked many of us to join them for a party on their boat.  We met several folks who were on the "great loop" tour.  They had interesting stories and the four of us enjoyed visiting with fellow boaters for a while before dining on board Satisfaction.

This evening we are very near Joe Wheeler State Park, where John and I will be attending the Great Loop Association meeting next week.  The marina here is protected from the main channel by two large barges that mark the opening.  With no car nor restaurant close by, we "swept the galley" for dinner (left-overs).  Pizza, hot dogs and pinto beans aren't bad together when you've been on the river for six hours.

We continue to have great fall weather.  It rained one night, but otherwise it's been blue skies.  Tomorrow night we are meeting friends, Marsha and Dave Burchfield, at Joe Wheeler Marina.  They live in Decatur, AL and are driving over to visit.  We knew them when we lived in Hickory, NC so it will be a great reunion.

What a neat aerial view of Satisfaction. And how nice that your good weather has continued. Sounds like you're having a great trip, although i'm quite happy sharing the journey from land:>)
