hello from hot OK. And HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Papa!!
We had a double day today. It started with leisurely bkfst and swim at our 5th Comfort Suites. Our main mission for the day was to get Nathan some steak at the Big Texas Steakhouse where Adam did an episode of MAN VS FOOD and lost the 72 oz. steak challenge. We didn't even try! It sure was Texas-like. Wait until you hear the snake story! But b4 this we ventured to the country's 2nd biggest canyon which sort of just appeared in the ranches of Texas. Apparently the Red River has some power! It was 110 so hiking was at a minimum but the scenery was great. Seriously quiet in hot Texas state parks in July.
Next part of the day was Route 66 kitsch which included the biggest cross ever...110' wide and 190' high, a water tower built at a lean...on purpose, a cafe/hotel called U DROP INN...named by an 8 year old, and a ghost town...well, a once thriving town killed by an interstate and left to rot.
We reached OKC in time to swim after munching a bit in our room. Now the 4 of them are playing Scrabble in a network type game. Very addicting electronic game. Who knew there was an APP for that?
Tomorrow we play in OKC and kitsch our way to KC. After that I am going to relax and we can just float our way north. I have to say tho I have enjoyed eating our way around the country! Tomorrow more funky Route 66 munchies!
