For the past week I have been beach hopping along the coast of Sao Paulo state with no way of communicating with the outside world. Awful, right?

We left Sao Paulo on the 30th for Paraty, a beautiful beach town in Rio. Ada´s father keeps his boat at a marina in Paraty, we slept on it that night so that we could take it out early the next morning. Not the most glamorous sleeping conditions, but it was free! We unfortunately did not even see Paraty because it rained the entire night and it kept raining for the next 4 days without stopping. So, needless to say we did not take the boat out and we had to drive in the downpour to Ada´s fathers beach house. We stopped on the way at Ada´s sisters boyfriends beach house in Ubatuba. They have a ridiculously cool pool and a really nice house. I posted pictures of the pool below. The rain stopped for an hour or two but then it started up again. I have never seen more rain in my life. There was a small hotel on the beach about 90 km from where we were staying that got completely destroyed by a landslide because of all the rain. After new years the rain stopped and the sun finally came out and it was HOT. We did eventually get to go on the boat from Sao Sebastao to Ilhabela, the biggest island in Brazil. It was amazing, all of the rich Brazilians have huge houses on Ilhabela.

After staying with Ada´s family for a week, we went to a place called Maresias where Ada´s high school friend, Isabella, lives. Isabellas father is a journalist and a surfer, he owns the company Ocean Pacific here in Brazil. He has traveled to so many places and surfed some of the best beaches in the world. It is amazing, he lives the most nonproductive life in the world. He wakes up around 11am every morning, meditates for an hour, does yoga for an hour, has breakfast and surfs for the rest of the day. At first it may seem nonproductive, but this guy really knows how to live. It was so great to be in his house and with his family. They were a great influence and just really know how to CHILL. They have a crazy dog too, he is a Rhodisian Ridgeback, the kind of dog used in Africa to surround lions so that hunters could shoot them. He is 6 months old and is out of CONTROL. Pictures below. I also took pictures of their beach house for you all to see. It is a Balinese style house and it is right on the ocean. It was the most relaxing place I think I have ever been. Except!!! THE BUGS WERE AWFUL! Eli and I look like we both have the chicken pox. It´s bad. Also, I got an ear infection from swimming in the ocean so much. The consequences of a beach bum life...

So, now I am back in Sao Paulo, staying at Fulvia´s apartment (my brazilian host sister) and tomorrow I am going to Sertaozinho to see my host family. Bruno´s father is throwing a huge party for his 50th birthday this Saturday at a country club in Sertaozinho. 300 people are going. Brazilians love big parties and if I´m invited....then, hey, why not??

After Sertaozinho, our plan is to go to Vitoria where Claudia lives and stay with her for a while. More updates on that. Enjoy the pictures of our past week on the beach. Love to you all. Come visit!!!!
