Our guide took us through the deserted streets, bath houses, mansions, and temples. During the excavation archeologists discovered human remains sealed in the solidified ash. They filled these molds, so to speak, with plaster thus eerily capturing the final positions of these ancient citizens.
After a brief lunch we left Pompei and drove along the western coast. The narrow streets carved into the hills were difficult to navigate but offered amazing views of the surrounding area. Serento and Pouissiamo are two of the most beautiful vistas I have ever seen; almost enough to make me give up my capitalist ways and become a local artistan.
Returning to Rome we were tired but felt obligated to walk the streets in search of a local watering hole. Little did we know we would stumble upon the Spanish steps completely by accident. After conquering another landmark we decided it was time for sleep; tomorrow afterall, was going to be another adventure.
