We started this day at a leisurely pace, leaving plenty of time to go to the market as advised by our dinner friends last night. In navigating back through the maze of cobblestone streets, we found the market which did not disappoint.
We found wine and fresh baked breads. There were varieties of marinated olives and garlic, fresh fruits and vegetables, herbs, a selection of freshly carved, cured meats, as well as varieties of dried sausages. The meat selection offered, duck, boar and everything in between. And best of all...CHEESE!
We asked for small portions of each, as we planned to take these with us on the train. When showing the portion size to the gentleman who was designated to cut the wedge from a larger block, he laughed and (we believe, because he only spoke French) said, "that amount of cheese is for a little girl." ;)
From the market, we went to go look at a beautiful cathedral in the center of town and caught the tail end of a Sunday service. This was wonderful because we were able to see the grand organ being played. This was followed by the ringing of bells that echoed through the narrow streets, all the way back to our hotel.
We had to catch a 3:00pm train to begin our short journey to Nice and were able to ride 1st Class. The train was spacious and we had a delicious feast in route thanks to the cheese, bread, and fresh tomatoes purchased earlier that day. We ate as the French countryside flew past us on either side and agreed that we had it pretty good...
We were welcomed by Nice with heavy rain. After a mini adventure figuring out if we were walking in the right direction, two sopping wet Americans arrived at the doorstep of Villa Victoria. The hotel was charming and once we dried off and the rain lightened up a bit, we sought out to get a bite.
It was a little after 9pm at this point, but there was still plenty to see. We wandered to old town and found a quant little restaurant that served authentic French cuisine (for whatever reason this has been quite a challenge to find). The restaurant was called Le Tire Bouchon.
When our waitress came to take our order, we asked for a bottle of wine and foie gras with a mango chutney to start. The waitress began to get very angry (or just French) and asked if that was all we were having. We explained that we would also both have main entrees and should know what we want in a few moments. No! No! No! This is not what you do in France. Dining is a very serious matter for them and formal order is required. Our waitress educated us that when in France, we should always order all dishes at once so that the chefs could time precisely the moment each dish will arrive to the table.
Needless to say, the meal was delicious; I had the Sea Bass, and Sami had the Lamb Shank. After the meal, our waitress was quite friendly and talked with us late after the kitchen had closed and gone home. We spoke of family, places we had been and cities we wished to visit. We were able to give her some recommendations in Barcelona.

Jason Garrett needs to be fired. Plat calling atrocious...would of had a victory in Atlanta...refs blew a few calls as well. Sounds like you guys are having a great time
