Show trip route
Today, Sami and I spent the day getting comfortable and settled for our first night in Europe.
We set out from our hotel to explore the area and ended up in the area of La Gracía for most of the evening. We found a Gin & Tapas Lounge called, Úbeda. This was a great first stop, as we met a young man named Jimmy, a local, who helped structure the rest of our time here in Barcelona. He made us our first authentic meal of marinated sardines and olive bread topped with tomatoes
Suddenly appeared tribes in brightly colored costumes barring horns as a headdress. They began displaying rival sets of hand-held firework displays. Along with this, they each had their own larger-than-life dragon (very reminiscent of the Chinese New Year Parade), which they also attached and set off fireworks.
We had a great time watching this surprising show, making new Barcelona friends, and enjoying the authentic cuisine of this region.
We could not have asked for a better start to our trip. (Please see the photos we have included.)
