Once we left Salt Lake City, it didn't take us long to drive the rest of the way through Utah and cross the border into Wyoming. Wyoming was beautiful, but......simple. It mainly consisted of flat grasslands with mountains off in the distance (the grand Tetons) and an occasional rock formation or mesa.
To take a break from driving we stopped at the Little America Hotel in Granger, Wyoming
After driving and driving for several more hours we stopped to have dinner in Laramie, Wyoming. We used our new Garman gps (who we call "Dottie" or "Dot" for short, she has a woman's voice) to find us a restaurant. We decided to try and find a steak/grill place because we heard that Wyoming beef is supposed to be delicious. Dottie found us "Lovejoy Bar & Grill" to eat at in downtown Laramie. Oh my gosh the steak was so amazing, really juicy and flavorful. Laramie is where the University of Wyoming is located so we kind of drove past campus and then went to get gas. I tried to get some Starbucks from the Albertson's that we stopped at, but I got there too late. They closed at 8pm and I got there at 8:03, so depressing. I hadn't seen a Starbucks for 200 miles and when I get to go to one, it's closed.
I eventually got over the fact that I would have to skip Starbucks so we left and drove all the way to North Plate, Nebraska. This was by far the longest day of driving we had done or probably will drive. We made it to our hotel at about 1am (yikes). North Platte itself is not really worth mentioning, it was pretty

. We got gas, checked out the gift shop and got ice cream cones! The restaurant was selling .50 cent cones, they really hit the spot. I don't know if vanilla ice cream has ever tasted so good. This was also where Dad discovered that Wyoming allows you to buy 85 octane gas which is really weird. We don't have this in California, our regular gas is 87 octane and we have never seen anything lower than that before.
