Lucy, Eni and I went on the internet quickly, but the cafe didnt have any change so gave it to us for free. Eni suggested that we went to spend the money on icecream instead- what a great idea! In the afternoon we chilled out around the house, which is beautiful. It's a bungalow but really could be a holiday villa as there's a terrace/balcony outside, great sunshine and views over the whole of Kruja. Later on we went for a volleyball match in the local high school. Quite a lot of the Albanian teenagers turned up, along with - the team from Pasqacan. It was so good to see Matt, Sam and Tonin again, it felt like we hadnt seen them for ages! Loughborough team unfortunately lost miserably, but it was fun watching everyone else.
When we got back to the house, Xamejia suggested I did some English cooking, and I thought a cake would be a good idea as it was Bruna's birthday the next day. Unfortunately even though i knew the quanities to use, she didnt have any scales - the butter came in a bag so I couldnt even use packaging as a guide - and they dont seem to have self raising flour or baking powder in Albania! So I tried to make a chocolate cake, which of course didnt rise, and I had no idea how long to leave it in the oven either. When it was finally cooked, it was quite solid and took a lot of effort to get it out the pan... but it looked and tasted just like chocolate brownies! Was a miracle.
