This was the best town in Cambodia that we visited. The people were so friendly and funny. The first few days were very wet, but we still joined a 'Hash House Harrier' run through dengue fever ridden fields (probably), people's houses and eventually to this weird open air restaurant in the middle of nowhere where the Cambodians forced me and andy to sing Ronan Keating repeatedly. It was actaully really good fun, even when they were forcing us to dance for them too... They loved the beatles tunes so we sung some of those too.
When it had stopped raining we headed to the beach. I was content reading war and peace, ignoring the screams from the water... until I realised a child was going to drown. I alerted Andy, who swam out to him and saved him... The Cambodians (and Vietnamese) do not go into the water past waist height and this child had got into a rubber ring and managed to float a good way out to sea. Poor Dr Lamb was exhausted when he pulled himself ashore to find himself a hero and we were promptly whisked to the child's house for celebrations.
