Indian tourism

From Dharmapuri we caught a local bus up to Hogenakkal Falls. I really liked what we were doing as it was off the beaten track. We struggled because nobody had a clue what we were talking about and the stares here were far more prominent then anywhere else we have visited. But that's ok, we had a brilliant day! The bus driver stopped on the way up the mountain to throw bananas to the wild monkeys. It was so funny I was practically crying... It was hard not to anthropomorphise them as they ran after the bus on their hind legs jumping at the windows and tucking as many bananas into their little cheeks as they could! I got some action shots too.
The falls themselves were filled with Indian tourists. The men had stripped to their pants and were parading around in the shallow falls, usually complete with beer belly. Oil massages are common here so they were all greased up too... I've never seen so many people trying to perfect a 70s porn star look! We waded through the falls and found a quiet spot. The monsoon meant we were in for a treat, the main waterways were raging and looked spectacular.

Seems you had a nice time. 'trying to perfect a 70s porn star look' - Now this was funny [:)]
At Hogenakkal, I was smitten by coracle ride, waterfalls, gorges, jumping children, fish fries and beach. In fact, I even blogged about it at http://travellersdiary.wordpress.com
