Wow!!! What a beautiful place, quiet tiny little village. Our room was huge! The hosts were awesome, food great, a fat black cat named Bear.......

In the end we did things like: sand back window frames, re-glass windows, pick apples/ walnuts veg etc, chop wood, paint, drill, smile laugh and drink Bekarovka and Slovavice at the pub.....

Here is an extract for my communal e-mails describing the first part of our time there

Nick- from Birmingham England is great. Really funny and says the "F" word (the one that rhymes with "luck") a lot. Dasa (Dasha -yes like the reindeer) is awesome. She's from Czech so we get a great local view on everything.

Our welcome when we got here was so warm and lovely. We went along to their friends place they were visiting for lunch and were greeted by loads of Czechs actually interested in US! A great change fromt he hostel life of big cities. We were very very well fed and generally made to feel at home.

The first week flew by. Basically we have 4 days work, then 3 off. We have our own room -about the size of a ballroom, it's known as the "cave" and bathroom. All food is taken care of and we all laugh and chat a great deal. My jobs were helping bake (real tough I know) and scrubbing and laquering stone work around the fireplaces and touchiong up some paint on the walls. Rip has been chopping about a tonne of wood and is feeling very manly for it.

Last week we went to see an ice-hockey match in a nearby town. It was super! Suitably violent and exciting. We have also been to the pub and to other villages close by.

Nick is an ex-chef so the food is fabulous. So much to eat all the time!

Tomorrow we will pick fruit from the orchid. They also have an organic veg patch.
