Sunday:  Went to the Cathedral down the block for 10:00 service.  I'd say 85% of the people there were, well, 85!  That's alright though... was a typical boring catholic service (sorry mom) but I guess the message was good.  (Who goes to church for the entertainment value anyways)  :)

Took the bus out to New Brighton, about a 20 minute drive.  They had a big kite-flying day so families saturated the beach.  The busker performers were there as well so I watched a couple interesting acts and then strolled the beach excited like a child at all the fabulous kites.  Some were small and some were so big they had to be anchored by cars.  The attitude of the beach and its people was enjoyable and relaxing.  The only negative thing about the day wasn't realized until the next when I hopped in the shower and realized I had forgotten to put sunscreen on my chest.  OWch!

On my walk home from the bus station I was approached by a group of three travelers looking for the nearest supermarket.  After explaining my directions, they invited me along and having nothing better to do, I followed/escorted them.  They were so refreshing since I hadn't really talked to anyone all day.  One was from Estonia, yeah, Estonia, I don't know about you, but I kind of forgot that that country even existed (kind of like Canada, right?)  one was from Australia and the girl was from England.  I asked one if they were on holiday (vacation) and he said "I'm always on holiday".  These guys didn't have jobs, they do what they can to get by, maybe picking up a one-day job here and there, playing music on the streets, etc.  And soon enough I found out that dumpster diving was a normal means for them.  so to the market we went.  The Australian and I shopped inside while the other two did their dumpster diving.  it's amazing the quality of fruit they throw away there...

We then went our separate ways.  They were happy people...and I was happy to have met them.  I wish them luck.
