Friday Day 4:  Can't believe I came here with no sunglasses...had to pick some up at the mall for our "Big Day Out"!  It's a huge music festival here in Auckland with tons of local bands and DJ's, international ones as well, and the headliners Bjork and Rage against the Machine.  Took the train there at 2:00 and had a full day of great music, some just okay.  I was excited for Bjork; her concert ended up being, well, WEIRD would be a good word.  She came out in a headdress that looked likes a clowns crown or something just wacky like that.  The most entertaining part was the light show at the end.  Rage was last--I like the music, but just ignore the words.  Maybe if I was a bit more of an anarchist (yeah) I would've got even more into it, especially the moshing and whatnot.

Saturday Day 5:  Craig and Liz took us to the Otara Flea Market this morning.  Chelsea, their lovely 17-year-old neighbor girl came with.  Love her--we just make fun of each other's accents all day and swap different versions of words.  Had a quick lunch and Zach and I were surprised with gifts from Liz and Craig.  We were given bone necklaces made here in New Zealand.  It's a tradtion that these are only to be GIVEN from one person to another.

          HEI MATAU  (FISH HOOK)

          TE MATAU A MAUI

*** There have been many forms to depict the hook of Maui.  Maori legend tells of how Maui fished up the North Island of New Zealand using his magical hook.  Today the matau is worn for good luck, bringing the wearer peace, prosperity and good health.  The matau is also said to provide a safe journey across the water.
