there is not really much to say about this place called chonchi, but there is a really nice story to go along with the place. a lot of times in some of the "bigger" cities (ie, more than 10,000 people), there are not good locations for campgrounds, so locals rent out their backyards for people with tents. if you are really lucky, you get to go in the house and use the bathroom and the kitchen. This was one of those incedences where i camped in the backyard, and came in to cook dinner inside the house. the owner of the property was a man in his 40's or 50's. he was single, and he lived with a very old lady. the lady was so old that she couldnt really talk or do anything for herself anymore, and she just sat by the fire all day long in her slippers. as it turns out, the woman was not his grandmother, nor his mother, but his nanny from when he was a child. she had taken care of his mother, and then him, and now that she was very old he was taking care of her. he cooked for her, and did everything else for her, and when he left the room she would cry and moan until he came back, much like i imagine he probably did for her when he was a baby. the woman, or nana, as he called her, will be 100 years old in july.
