Our first stop on the tour was the Golden Gate Bridge. We were dropped at one end and walked all the way across to the other side. The bridge spanned approximately 1.6km.
On the drive out of the city we soon saw the scenery change. We all took in turns to briefly introduce ourselves to the rest of the tour group. Of the 30 people on the tour, 10 are from S.A and 8 of those 10 are from the Barossa Valley. Hard to believe you can come 1/2 way around the world and meet people from your own home town. Most of the tour group are Australian, a few are from New Zealand and 1 is from Canada.
We stopped at a supermarket to grab drinks and snacks for the next few days. The supermarkets are quite different. The size of packaging being the main difference. Everything is super sized.
We arrived at Yosemite National Park late afternoon and checked into our tented cabins. We had to remove all foods and any products containing a scent from the cabin and place it into a metal bear proof bins. We went from a short walk and saw a some deers and some squirrels. The scenery in Yosemite is amazing with many tall pine trees up against massive granite cliffs.
We met in the Curry Village pizza hall and had pizza for tea. We then headed to the Wi-Fi centre for Internet coverage. Many of the tour group had gathered for a few drinks near the cabin areas. After a few warnings about noise, the local park Sheriffs arrived and sent everyone back the cabins shortly after midnight.
