Well, it's been a very busy weekend/week so I will finally update you on my Trip to London.

I arrived in London Thursday night around 9 and went out to explore a little bit. Jordan, Gretchen, Lyndsey and I went to King’s Cross and saw platform 9 (from Harry Potter), except they were doing construction and the platform was moved and looks really fake and cheesy. When we got back to the hotel I ran into my friend from high school, Laura Swanson. I knew she would be in London, but considering all the people, I figured I would never see her. We ended up staying at the same hotel! It was the craziest thing!

We got up early Friday and went out to see the sights. We got a day pass for the tube, which was definitely worth it! We started off at the Tower of London and walked our way through town. For the most part we didn’t go in anywhere and just saw the outside of these buildings. We crossed the Tower Bridge, Passed the London Bridge, Southwark Cathedral, Winchester Palace, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, the Millennium Bridge, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, The London Eye, and finally Buckingham Palace. Whew! If you thought that was tiring to read, imagine walking to all those places! Haha We were all sore and tired after such a long day, so we went back to our rooms and took a nap for a couple hours. Then we ventured out to find some cheap dinner and went back to bed.

We got up early again on Saturday since there is SO much to see! Got our day passes for the tube again (life saver!) and started off at Abbey Road and took pictures walking across the crosswalk like the Beatles. Then we made our way to the Princess Diana Memorial and the Peter Pan statue. On our way there we were walking next to the river where there were tons of birds. Lyndsey had taken some bread from breakfast and was feeding it to them. They are so used to having people around that they were coming right up to us! One was even begging from me! We wanted to go back to Buckingham Palace, because we were told the changing of the guards was on Saturday. On our way there we passed Big Ben and the London Eye again and once we got there we found out that the changing of the guards had actually been Friday. After that, we went over to the British Museum. They had exhibits on Egypt and Rome, which were pretty interesting to see. We were all super exhausted by this point, but we hadn’t done any shopping yet! We went to The Brunswick shopping center by our hotel to at least do a little bit of shopping. I didn’t buy anything, but we had to at least look! We also went to a grocery store to get supplies for our very classy and expensive dinner (peanut butter sandwiches). Then relaxed and watched movies for the rest of the night, which was just as much fun or more than we would have had going out.

Sunday morning we checked out and everyone on the London trip went to Hampton Court Palace on the way back to Grantham. This was King Henry VIII’s summer palace, which was HUGE! They even had a maze, so we split up into groups to race to the end. (Lyndsey and I won… no big deal haha) Although the whole palace is gorgeous, my favorite part was the gardens, which I can imagine are even better in the summer! There is way too much to do in London to fit into one weekend, so I definitely will be going back sometime to see more of it and do a lot more shopping. Also, it rained on and off all weekend, so hopefully next time there will be better weather!

Monday, Lyndsey and I booked our trip to Spain in February! :]

Tuesday I went shopping in Grantham with Lyndsey, but still didn’t buy much. Also, I watched Pride and Prejudice with some girls.

Wednesday = fire alarm number 3 (at 7 AM!). In the afternoon we had a group photo of our whole class for the yearbook. Then I went back into Grantham with Gretchen, Jordan and Lyndsey. Tonight we had our Meet-a-Family Reception where everyone’s families come to Harlaxton for a fancy dinner. It was really fun and I love getting to know them better! We started to plan some things we want to do during the semester and see what works with everyone's schedule. Ralph and Judith are taking Jessica and Alayna to Cambridge (I think?) for the day next Saturday the 29th, but I am probably going to Scotland so I have nothing planned with them at the moment. I'm sure I will see them soon though!

I suppose I should fit some homework in sometime, huh? I guess that’s what I’ll be doing this weekend… (and sleeping!!!)
