The first week I got here was the staff Christmas party. Our bosses, Jackie and Stuart, are a married couple who live beside the pub as well. They also have a teenage daughter who goes to boarding school but sometimes works in the pub. Since we normally have Sundays off, this Sunday was our Christmas party. Unfortunately, some of us ended up having to work first. The rest of the staff started partying much earlier.
By the time the party got started, some people were already drunk! Our party was in the pub with free drinks and lots and lots of food made by our bosses. It was really good and I really like lamb. It was very English as we had Christmas crackers with paper crowns in them.
After the party, we went out to some bars and clubs. It was a lot of fun but since we started so early, we were home by midnight.
While everyone was working hungover the next day, I had the afternoon off. I decided to wander around the city. I followed signs from near my housing and ended up at the British museum. I spent some time there and managed to see the Parthenon (all the major statues are in the British museum, not in Greece) and some of the Egyptian art though I didn't see all the mummies yet. As the British museum is free and about 10 minutes away, I'm sure I'll be back soon.
I decided to try and walk to the river from there. I never actually made it. I somehow made my way back to Oxford Street while first hitting Picadilly Circus and the theater district. There are so many good musicals playing right now. I'm hoping to go to one over Christmas when we have time off. I also took pictures of all the Christmas decorations around Picadilly Circus so check them out in the album.
