Headed off to this 'nuclear-free' zone for a couple of days to get back to basics with organic produce and hippy mulberry shakes. Whilst the town itself looked a bit like poor mans Barriloche, the surrounding scenery kept us with a permanent smile.

Spent many happy evenings guzzling organic vino and doing some communal cooking in the hostel's well-equipped kitchen, whilst our days were occupied cycling to nearby lakes (Lago Puelo)and trekking to the many delightful refugios established in this part of the world.

Perhaps one of the most memorable days of our trip so far was following the Cajon del Azul river up towards its snowfed source, stopping along the way for a glacial swim. We dared our Argentenian friend, Valentine, that he should jump off the 4m rock we were perched into this gulley of rushing water. Of course that meant we had to do it too. These aquamarine meltwaters are so clean that you can see the river bottom 7m down and all the baby trout swimming around. It was an incredibly exhilirating experience jumping into the swift current of these frigid waters. Even the trout looked a little bedazzled by our strange behaviour. Of course Jules had forgotten her swimsuit so did it in her lacy (rather stretched) purple underwear, which drew a few muffled chuckles from our gathering spectators. Lucky Valentine was sweet enough to bring her trousers down to her whilst she sat on the rock, looking like a hypothermic mermaid.
