We had a great 5 days in the Melbourne area. We stayed right down town which was super convenient to all the sights in the city. Melbourne seems like it was built for tourists because their free public transport is abundant in the inner city. There are tons of shops and cafes tucked away in small alley ways that are packed with people. It has a great feel.
We rented a small car for a 2 days and drove from Melbourne to Port Campbell on the Great Ocean Road. Its a 2 lane road weaving along the coast with beautiful views. We saw Koala's and Kangaroos and lots of beautiful scenary. Because its winter time here, we basically had the road to ourselves and the weather was clear and sunny practically the whole time.
On our way back to Melbourne we passed a camper van coming the opposite direction and realized that it was my friends Jay and Alex from Port Alberni
Yesterday afternnon we took a 9.5hr flight from Melbourne to Bangkok. As soon as we stepped out fo the airport we were hit by a heat wave, 33 degrees in the "winter". Got in a taxi and headed downtown to our hotel. We are staying a few blocks from Khao San road which is the main hub of accomodation/bars/cafes/restaruants/shopping shopping shopping for backpackers.
We have already sampled delicious Thai food from the street vendors for less the a $1 and all the fresh fruit and juices, its wonderful.
Hopefully we can both get our tan back soon so that we aren't the palest people around!
