Hi Everyone,
As I write this i'm sitting in a the hostel internet cafe at 5 in the morning and this district (Little India) is still bustling. I was up at 4 and couldn't sleep a wink because of the jetlag so this entry will be a surprise for Sarah when she wakes up!

We arrived at Changi Airport at around 5 in the afternoon after a long 12 hour flight from Heathrow, and as soon as we set foot outside the airport, that heat and humidity hit us! The first thing we noticed was how green everything is, plant life everywhere, even the airport outdoor bar/smoking area had a cacti reserve which you wouldn't be surprised seeing in a botanical garden. From the airport we took the underground rail service (MRT) to Little India and found a hostel for a couple of nights. After we showered and got settled, we went for a stroll to the nearest backpacker bar for a well deserved pint. We had a nice evening strolling round this pungent and aromatic area of Singapore. Smells reminiscent of India were quite common and so we decided to sample some of the local cuisine but found it difficult to find somewhere open at 10pm. We settled on a quiet local place for a vegetable filled flatbread and refreshing cola drink, a bargain at $2.50 each (about one and a quarter of our fine english pounds). After which we strolled past a very loud bar (Cam Asia) owned by a very outgoing local in a cowboy hat, Kodo. The bar walls were filled with pictures of guests, and sure enough, Kodo soon got a picture of us to add to his massive collection, along with an invite to the bar's facebook group where the photo can be viewed (details following...)
