We were anticipating our stop in Thailand with great enthusiasm and it has not disappointed us! We knew all was well when we were served a delicious Pad Thai and Green Curry lunch on the airplane - best airplane food yet! But it got even better - we had a layover in Bangkok and our connecting airline had a wonderful lounge that everyone could use. We got free tuna sandwiches, sticky rice treats and coffee as well as free Wifi, woo!
Chiang Mai is the largest city in northern Thailand, but its small by Asian standards, only six gates in the whole airport! Our room is only about $25 USD per night and we have two large beds, a big fridge and a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains.
The people in Thailand are quite lovely, very kind and helpful
We've spent most of our time here wandering through temples, walking through lovely craft markets and eating, eating, eating! We had a full day cooking class out on a cute Thai farm. Our lesson plan included Pad Thai, Basil Stirfry, Green Curry, Panang Curry, Massaman Curry, Tom Yum soup, Coconut Milk Soup, Mango Sticky Rice and Banana Coconut Cream dessert. And then, of course, we tried to eat it all. YUM YUM!
It is also quite hot here, so we've been forced to consume at least two ice cold fresh mango pineapple smoothies per day. Its quite terrible.
Next we head to Bangkok!
