We were so glad to be on the road out of Vang Vieng that we didn't mind the 9 hour bus journey to Lunag Prabang. when we arrived it was late afternoon and the hostels we called into were well over the price in the guide books so we kept wandering around to find a better deal - 2 and a half hours later we found a place for 8dollars between us and we then went and had dinner and toured the night markets.
next day we walked around town. And climbed the nearby hill overlooking the town which had lots of Buddist statues and shrines, later we booked our boat ticket for going up the Mekong to Pakbeng.
Luang prabang is a really nice town but overpriced for Laos.
