We were to be picked up at 8am to be brought to the ferry terminal at georgetown, but apparently the direct crossing to langkawi was going to be too rough so we ended up being brought by minivan back to the mainland on the roadbridge and were driven to the nearest ferry crossing to langkawi thus cutting an hour off the ferry crossing all at no extra cost. the minivan driver was very nice and sorted out our tickets at the ferry terminal so all we had to do was walk on.
We stayed at the Gecko Guesthouse which was in Pantai Cenang or Cenang beach. it's about 30 mins from the ferry terminal. The guesthouse was really nice and the nononsense English woman who runs it really does a good job. We got a room for 40 Ringits per night which is just less than 10euro.
