Arrived tired and exhausted after the bus journey in Hervey Bay and got our free lift to the hostel. Unlike Airlie Beach - which is a drinking town with a sailing problem Hervey Bay is very quiet and one girl said this is where Aussie people come to die! so you get the drift. However it was a great place to recharge the batteries before going to Fraser Island.
We met two Scotish girls in our dorm room and it wasn't long before Fuller started the charm. They as it turned out were on our tour of Fraser so next morning the 5 of us left Hrevey bay for our 2 day 1 night guided tour of the island.
- A really good tour and a great tour guide named Colin, who looked like a combination of Boreham and Colin which was a bit spooky! We had a great tour and at night the 5 of us were pretty much shuned by the others of the group who were mostly german and dutch and none native English speakers. But the single weirdest thing of that tour and that scars our memory of Fraser island was this, there was a father and daughter on the tour,Dutch, and at first we all thought it was not strange for a father and daughter to be taking a tour together but we soon changed our minds when it turned out they had booked a double bed for themselves in the permanent tents provided, and they seemed very eager to go to the accomodation, and for the next 2 days the guy spent the time taking pictures of the daughter posing for photos, so we all agreed it was weird and put it down to them being dutch as no other reason on eath could explain the sick behaviour.
After returning to Hervey Bay we spent the night recouperating from our experiences and the Scotish girls stories about jellyfish - Fuller only you'll understand! Next morning we got the early bus to Noosa Heads
