Surfers Paradise, Byron Bay and Nimbin

We headed south from Brisbane first to Surfers Paradise which is a real party town geared to teens aussies finishing school, thankfully we got there just before schoolies week started proper but there were a few around. we only stayed one night but we enjoyed it. The hostel we were staying in the Main Beach YHA which was a good 3km from the town so we walked to town that night walking along the route of the Indy car circuit which had been used the previous weekend. There were some really cool night markets and we picked up some trinkits for the family for christmas.
Next morning we headed south again to Byron Bay. - We loved Byron! The place was amazing the scenery from Cape Byron the most easterly point in Australia. We stayed in Byron Bay Holiday Village Hostel and were there over Halloween. The was a Halloween fancy dress BBQ night and Sarah and I got into the spirit of things dressed up as devils-face painting and all and came in the top ten for our outfits. It was good fun.
Next morning we took the Jim's Tour to the town of Nimbin - a town stuck in the 60's , a hippy comune, where you can go for a look see have a laugh at the great unwashed and unshaven and for those who are inclined partake in stuff the is considered illegal in pretty much everywhere other than amsterdam. The place was a real eye opener and we enjoyed the tour.
Next evening we took the nightmare bus journey from Byron to Sydney which took 14 hours
