13th Oct
Fuller arrived in Carins and the heavens opened with an almighty downpour of rain lasting 3 or 4 hours. the shuttle picked him up and dropped him to the hostel, but unlike Kelly in Santiago all Paul wanted to do was go straight to bed, i suppose coming off a 30something hour flight would do that to a person. So we went for our free dinner in Rhinobar and had an early night.
14th Oct
We had an early start as i had booked the 3 of us on the Silverswift to go scuba diving on the outer Great Barrier Reef. The conditions were really rough on the water and there were a number of people getting sea sick , a certain Mayo person included! When we got out to the outer reef the swells disapated. Paul was with the introductory diving group on the boat and we were in the certified group so we wern't going to be diving together which was a bit crap but what can ya do. Sarah and I hired an under water digital camera which cost 65 dollars to rent for the day but you get the 1GB memory card to keep. The camera was a great idea we got some really class photos down below. We got down to 18m on our first dive and saw amazing fish coral and sea creatures. We completed 3 dives and Paul did 2 but he loved it. The option was there for people to snorkel for free but the visibility at the surface wasn't nearly as good as below.
We got a class picture of the two of us with a sea turtle. On the last dive we came acorss fullers group so we got some good pictures of all 3 of us.
That evening we returned to Cairns and met up with Stephen and Cliona and the 5 of us had a big night out between Rhinobar, Gilligans and the Woolshed.
15th Oct
Our bus wasn't until 8pm so we spent the day chilling by the esplanade, Fuller regretting he came out due to his headache. That night we got the greyhound to Mission Beach
