We returned to Santiago and La Casa Roja as itīs a great hostel. Met up with Matt and Pippa again and arranged to go skiing the following day.
Next morning we had a really early start so that we were ready to hit the road at 7am. On Sundays public transport in Santiago is a bit off so we took a taxi to Total Ski to rent our gear and so Matt and Pippa could pick up thereīs. Iīm not kidding the queue for the rental place was 2 hours long just to rent the stuff and then you had to requeue elsewhere to get your bus tickets so it was nearly 10.40 before we were on the road. Matt and Pippa went on ahead as they already had their gear but we had planned to meet for lunch at 12pm and for apres ski!Apparently it was a bankholiday weekend in Chile and record numbers of locals took to the pistes so the roads up to the mountains were chockablock. At 12.30pm our driver refused to bring us to the slopes we were supposed to go to as there was a 70min delay on the roads so we were dropped at an alternative slope. Again a 2 hour queue for the ticket to enter so by 2.30pm we were on the slopes, my first time and Sarahīs second. We were naturals.... not! but it was great fun we had a blast.
That night we got home around 7.30pm and were wrecked tired but Matt and Pippa caught caught up in the tail back behind an accident on the mountain so they didnīt get back till nearly 11. Sarah and I cooked that night for the 4 of us and we had the best Chicken Fajitas ever! We said our Goodbyes to our two American friends but weīll hopefully see them again when they come to work in Europe. We had 3 hours to sleep before going to the airport to get our flighs to Buenos Aires and onto Ushuaia.
