We took a shuttle to Cesky from Munich and passing by the alps, we were lucky enough to have a 40 minute break on the way to run around Salzburg with Jan & Bill. Again, we hoped for snow upon our arrival. But alas, nothing. The weather forecast has been changing by the hour and as we draw closer any snow forecast quickly changes to brilliant sunshine.

But nevermind, Cesky Krumlov has been just as lovely today as it was last summer. We've had just the full day here to take in its Renaissance buildings - frescoed and 3D-painted. We've wandered along the Vltava, perused the local shops and taken advantage of their hot mead, artistic gingerbread, and sour cherry brandy. And of course, we've taken about a million and one photos of the castle and its surrounds.

We've had coffees and waffles galore. We've had the thickest hot chocolate you could imagine, and the tastiest potato chips. We've had a beautiful dinner of chicken, cranberries, and brie at a little pension that I´ve forgotten the name of. And we've had kilo pork knees in the same tavern we visited last time, Krmca Satlavske. I spent three days after feeling like my organs were floating in a pool of lard, with pork fat leaking out my pores.

So far, I think this has been the place that Blair's parents have enjoyed the most. And although we might have to roll our way home if we continue at this rate, this is what makes us truly grateful that we've had the chance to revisit some of the places we so enjoyed on our first trip.

Rating out of 10: 9
In a word: Timeless
Something interesting: The tavern Krčma v Šatlavské is on the site of the old jailhouse
