Our arrival in Byron Bay was day 200 of the trip whoo hoo baby. On our arrival we were picked up by the hostel who took us on a quick drive around the town (it isn't very big). Afer check in and lunch we went to look at Byrons lighthouse where there were also a couple of geo caches. It was a beautiful walk through the woods with brightly coloured parrots in the trees. We watched some handgliders take off and soar over the sea, this was also a useful distracting tool as we went for the cache. We then continued to the lighthouse where we had an ice cream as we wandered about taking photos and looking for whales (still no luck). We then walked to the most easterly point on the Australian mainland wowzers. Here we were lucky enough to spot a school of dolphins which we watched jump in and out of the waves which was amazing. Once we got over the excitement we went and found our 2nd cache & tried to take pictures of the waves breaking over the rocks. We went onto the beach where the waves were going the wrong way bizarre but the sufer dudes loved it. As it was Day 200 we marked this occasion by writing it in the sand and taking pictures of it. We then strolled back attempting to take a decent picture of a parrot in a tree but the damn thing kept moving. We did however manage to find our house by the beach complete with its own pool and waterfall.
Also as it was day 200 to celebrate we went out for a lovely Thai meal and then went to watch Harry Potter. Afterwards we were very tired & achy (it was the start of painful week for me as I somehow managed to injure my right shoulder and had to spend a good few days on painkillers - all ok now though). The next day we had a much needed lie in and organising sesh. We then meandered through the shops and then I went for a massage to try and sort my shoulder. The massuse told me my right side was screwed (which was nice) and proceeded to pull my toes out of their sockets which I felt was not needed. Seriously though it was a good massage and helped immensly. We had tea in a fairy light lit tapas restaurant where Sam serenaded us with his Saxaphone and gave us a free CD yeay.
The next morning we were up early to check out and to join the massive queue for Harry Potter (there were about 10 of us!!). However there were a few dressed as wizards (not us) and the kids did cheer as the doors opened. Once we got our hands on Harry we had a quick picture with him before we headed to the beach to get reading. As we kept moving positions everyone commented on the fact we were reading Harry (it got a bit boring after the hundreth time!!). We did manage to fit in lunch whose arrival was announced by beeper (genius). We had a last wander around the shops before heading back to the hostel for our free bus to the bus stop, the driver was from Sheffield and was one of the first people we've met on the trip who knew where Barnsley was. Then through the power of Harry Potter & sleep we made our last trip on greyhound through to Sydney.
