So I spent the first few days in Chiang Mai recovering from bronchitis. Then Kyle (this hilarious guy that I met down in the islands) came up to join me. He is what I would refer to as an adrenaline junkie. So we signed up for the whitewater rafting, elephant riding and 4-wheeling adventure. It was so much fun!

Our truck picked us up and we went to this butterfly farm/orchid place. It was kind of boring. Then they took us to this place that they use elephant poop to make all kinds of paper products. It smelled bad but it was neat to see how the whole process worked. Don't worry, you won't be getting any elephant poop souvenirs. I have better taste than that.

Our next stop was whitewater rafting. It was so much fun! It was a very different experience compared to my previous whitewater rafting in Colorado and West Virginia. There were a lot more rocks and we repeatedly got stuck. It was still an absolute blast and I screamed a lot because we were in the front of the boat. We kept getting into splash wars with the other raft so it definitely helped cool me off.

After rafting, we went on our elephant ride. I am so happy that our guide didn't hit our elephant because I would have cried. Instead, he sang songs to our elephant "Honey." We went through a river and up this hill. There were a few times that I was scared I was going to fall out. At one point it started to rain but that didn't phase us since we were already wet.

Next, we went 4-wheeling. I'm not going to lie. I was a crappy driver. Especially when I was going through mud pits. Kyle grew up in the country so he was used to riding "quads" (as the Canadians say). But he was very patient with me and didn't leave me behind. We stopped off at a few monuments (big elephant, Buddha statue, etc) and we also visited the Karen village where the woman add rings to their necks to elongate them.
Overall, the day was an absolute blast. I would definitely do it all again.
