I met this Macedonian girl, Katherine, in Ko Phi Phi and we decided to make the journey to the eastern islands together. So we took a ferry back to the mainland (1.5 hours) then we took a four hour bus ride to Surat Thani. We had four hours to look around the town before our night ferry. Honestly, we only need 10 minutes. It was very sketchy and we really didn't feel safe there. So we decided to just go claim a bed and relax.

The night ferry was an experience in itself. Basically, it had all of these thin (1") mattresses on the ground. They also provided pillows that could seriously be on that show, Fear Factor. I don't think someone could have paid me to put my face on it. I created my own pillow using my beach towel. We were near these three Europeans who finally were quiet around midnight. The boat arrived in Ko Samui at 7 AM. We took a taxi into town then tried to find somewhere to stay. Unfortunately, most places weren't open so we just took our bags to the beach. Around 11, we checked into our guest house, "The Wave."

One of the coolest thing about the "Wave" is the fact that they have the only library on the island. You pay to check out a book and all of the money goes to the Animal Rescue Center. It is definitely a win-win situation. There are also four dogs that live there. It makes me miss my pets.

We decided to relax here. Basically, we lazed on the beach and ate some good meals. My body needed the sleep. I also read quite a few books on the beach. This is exactly what I needed after my crazy time in Ko Phi Phi... rest and relaxation.
