After a wonderful, crazy time in Queenstown I decided that I needed to relax. Wanaka was the perfect place to unwind. It is a small lake community surrounded by mountains. It has all of the necessities (bars, restaurants, a big grocery, etc.).
I stayed at the Purple Cow Backpackers which reminded me of a big ski resort. It had a huge porch with a wonderful view of the lake. I stayed in a 6 person dorm (2 bedrooms) and we had our own bathroom, family room with TV and kitchen. All of my roommates were really nice. So we spent a lot of time just hanging out in our TV room.
I took a few great walks around the lake. I also went and read a great book on a bench. We watched a few movies in the theater ("In her shoes" and "Holiday"). Honestly, this was exactly what I needed.
