I took the 8:05 ferry from Wellington to Picton. The Interislander ferry holds 1600 people plus their vehicles. I went straight in and snagged a comfy seat near a wall plug so that I could plug in my laptop. After a 3.5 hour journey and alot of episodes of "Sex and the City," I arrived in Picton. I was greeted at the terminal by my hostel's bus.
The Villa is an old historic home that has been converted into a hostel. It is blue with red trim and it has tons of flowers everywhere. It kind of reminds me of a dollhouse. It had 2 kitchens, 2 lounges and a huge backyard that was filled with tables, chairs, grill, hammock and an outdoor fireplace. I stayed in "The Swamp" which was a ten person dorm room. I got the bottom bunk which always makes me happy.
Today was the town festival. So down by the marina they had tons of bands, food booths and beer tents
After the fireworks we finally made our way down to the marina to hear the Waritars play. The beer tents reminded me of a Catholic festival. I knew the crowd was nice drunk when an old whitehaired man was leading a congo line to "Don't Stop Believing." We joined in because we thought it was so funny.
I went back to the hostel around midnight because I had to catch the bus early in the morning. I was kind of sad to go because all of the people that I had met were staying another night.

Marina in Picton
. I walked around for a bit but headed back to the hostel to relax. I ended up meeting tons of people and we had dinner outside. Then we just sat around and had a few beers. We kept saying, "we will go in 5 minutes." But we really just kept on talking. The conversation was really funny until one of the guys started talking about how women are inferior. At first, I thought he was joking. But he definitely wasn't. I tried to bite my tongue but eventually bombarded him with quite a few fallacies in his statements. This got all of the girls riled up and pretty soon he knew that his crazy viewpoints were not reciprocated. Our debate was ended due to the fireworks. I think Thunder Over Louisville has spoiled me.
