As it was quite a hot day we decided to go for a walk through the Noosa National Park - lots of rain forest and shade!
We walked about 10km's and crikey was it jammed packed! After wandering only 500m or so I spotted our first koala in the wild. It was assuming the usual position, tucked up and asleep. We walked along the coast line for a couple of km's and found some beautiful beaches and coves and possibly a Dolphin out at sea. Once we started to make our way into the forest we spotted a massive lizard.... It's tail alone was approx 1m long. About 200m on from that Donovan spotted a Frill Lizard on the tree with it's neck frill all puffed up. When we got close it tried to hide against the tree. A family with 2 small kids were just behind us and they were loving it. The boys were in awe of these creatures. Shortly after we left them, we heard the mum scream.... A snake (small one) had rushed across the path in front of us. A bit further along I saw a snake disappearing into the bushes. Later on we were passed by a Japanese and german guy asking if we'd seen any Koala's. We caught up with them round the next bend pointing into the tree. Thinking they'd found Koala I rushed round only to be confronted by the biggest spider I have ever seen. It was a Golden Orb and wouldn't be much of an exaggeration to say it was almost the size of my hand.... Eewww!
After lunch we headed over to Sunshine beach and Donovan went for a surf. Still injured I sat on the beach. After a while something made me get up and have a look around. This guy had been surfing and blood was pooring from his head... I couldn't quite understand, as there was no reef. When Donovan came out he told me he crashed into someone. The guy paddled into Donovan's path!
