Since we now have this motorhome for as long as we need it, we've decided to change our itinerary a bit. We don't have to rush back from the Atlantic for June 27th now, so we thought we'd spend a day in Toronto, giving Simone a choice of how she'd like to spend her birthday. Her choices were:
a. CN Tower (Simone HATES elevators!! - this was her very last choice!)
b. Ontario Science Centre
c. Black Creek Pioneer Village
Because it was threatening to rain and the pioneer village was outside, Simone chose the Science Centre
First things first though. We went to Tim Hortons for breakfast. Simone, prompted to choose anything she wanted, ordered a plain bagel. That's it. nothing on it. *sigh* - she gets her sense of adventure from her mother, no doubt!!
Then it was off to find the dreaded Hwy 401. It actually wasn't that bad - especially with our trusty little GPS. It took us straight to the Ontario Science Centre by about 11:00 a.m. We spent about 6 hours there and could have spent more. What a fabulous museum!!
Then we thought we'd get a few hours of travelling under our belts, since we wanted to be in Ottawa by 11:00 a.m. the following day for Question Period in the House of Commons.
Simone was again given the choice of menu for supper. She chose McDonald's!!!! Oy! We were all looking forward to some real food - to a nice sit down meal. Ah well - she was happy (and thanks Uncle Zack for the birthday supper!!)
We continued on our way and stayed in a little town called Shannonville overnight. We thought we'd try another residential street sleeping situation, but didn't have as much luck finding a good spot. The motorhome was parked at quite an angle and the nearby traintracks seemed to have ample overnight traffic. Just as well, we wanted to be on the road early the next morning, so there was no danger of sleeping in!!
