We left the Seattle area and drove to Corvallis. After going down the wrong highway for about 30 minutes (we wondered why we were still seeing mountains to our west) we got on the right track and followed Hwy 101 down the coast.
It was here that we got our first view of the Pacific Ocean and I must say I think it's strange. The weather is definitely different than home. Our skies might cloud up and rain but they're hardly ever just gray. Another thing is the big rocks in the water, and the mountains...and last, but not least, what's with the black sand?
It is all very strange and different, but isn't that why we took this trip? The highway is definitely slower than the interstate would be, but the scenery is  worth the extra time on the road.
