We received a warm and vocal welcome from the pups, and after lots of petting and excited dancing we headed out to take in some sites before jet lag took us down. We took the train to the city center, or Marienplatz, and walked around the area checking out some of the shops. Our first German meal was actually a Mediterranean treat - Doner Kebap which was delicious.
It didn't take us long before we were ready to go back to the apartment for a rest
That evening we enjoyed a delicious home-made, Noah-made chicken stew and watched some German television. Because they have a basic package they only get one station in English - CNN - so not too exciting. I think it does help them with their German. We were pretty tired so we went to bed pretty early since we had a big adventure ahead of us.
Saturday we went back to Marienplatz, and this time we did more sight seeing. We made it just in time to watch the Glockenspiel go off. After that we visited the Neues Rathaus (New Town Hall) which is the town hall, and then went to church. Each one was very different from the others, and seemed to get more ornate as we went along. Frauenkirche was the least ornate, but still very beautiful. Gary and I lit candles to celebrate our anniversary - 32 years
After getting our fill of churches we went by the Hofbräuhaus, which was extremely crowded, then walked through the farmer's market area and got a couple of pretzels to snack on. Yummo!! From there we headed over to the Englischer Garten which is one of the largest urban public parks in the world - bigger than Central Park in New York. Needless to say we saw a very small portion of it before stopping at the Chinesischer Turm - Chinese Tower for beer and pretzels, which as you can see from the pictures are ginormous!
