So got here a day later than planned, (as I was being too lazy in Puerto Varas), being spring the weather is a bit unpredictable so was a bit damp today. BUT nothing could dampen my spirits upon seeing the sea lions!!! These cheeky fat animals swim up the river and camp out beside the fish market waiting to get tip bits!!! The males are massive, I have never seen these guys in the wild before so was very nice!
In my flying visit I also went to a really nice Art Gallery. It in a the structure of a burned out warehouse (or something like that) anyway it was very cool, and I liked the layout at lot. The first room I went into had some really funky music and was pitch black, then they basically had cardboard boxes with the pictures in them, it really worked. I think I could have sat in the room all day and just chilled out there... But there was another bus to catch so had to head off!!!
Overall I had a good time in Valdivia and went back to visit the sea lions more than once (swapped obsessions from taking photos of volcanos to sea lions!!!) however the town was described as being ultra hip!!! I loved the cafe culture and liberal attitudes but thought the city itself could do with a bit of a face lift and was looking a bit dated... It is funny tho as I would not have even thought this if it had not been described in my book that way!!! More thumbnails ...
