Myrtle Beach is about a 2.5 hour drive from Santee, but I need to stop along the way at Costco, Petsmart (Willow needs groomed), and a grocery store, so it will be a long day. Perhaps because I've been in the outback lately, MB looks to me like a shopper's paradise.
By 5 pm, I was camped at Pirateland RV Park, right on the beach. I have cable TV; first time in I can't remember how long. Most places I've been lately have no cable and I use the MH antenna to pull in whatever channels I can find.
I never really know whether I will like a campground so when I need to reserve ahead I try for about 7 days. All campgrounds want payment in advance. If I like it, I stay longer; if not, I'm on to the next campground. My reservation at Pirateland ends on April 11 and I WILL be moving on
On April 11, I am moving to Lakewood Camping Resort which is just down the street, and also on the beach.
April 11 marks the start of the season for MB and camping rates are increased accordingly. You'll see from the pictures that Pirateland is about 1/3 full pre-season. One campground I especially liked was full for Easter weekend.
