What I did
Khotachi Wadi

Flag of India  , Maharashtra,
Wednesday, June 6, 2012

Khotachi Wadi is one of the numerous narrow lanes in Girgaum which is now declared a heritage lane.
You are welcomed by the narrow cobbled streets.

The first thing you notice are the colourful paintings on the wall.

The verandahs with quirky little things on display, winding staircases outside the house, tiled roofs and beautifully carved railings are characteristic of all the houses.

Its not easy maintaining houses like these especially in a city like Mumbai. With real estates rates the way they are, these people are forgoing a lot by resisting the builders and maintaining this cultural integrity. They deserve an applause and a suitable compensation from the powers that be, for being the the guardians of our heritage.
