Claudia´s dad drove us to a small airport near Frankfurt on Thursday, Hahn airport, where we would take our 2 hour flight to Göteborg, Sweden, with Ryanair.com a very cheap airline because they are primarily a freight airline. Our tickets cost 1 euro, but airport and good old govt taxes jacked it up, but it was still a cheap 70 euros each for a return ticket. Once in Sweden, Elda and James (friends we made at Murdoch Uni last year) picked us up from the airport and drove to Elda´s family house (Elda´s family comes from Lebanon and they were very very hospitable people). A cute little area with snow covering everything and beautiful forests and mountainous terrain. Our first night consisted of building a snowman down at a local park. This was my first snowman and it turned out pretty good. Following this we had a snowball fight, which is a bit like Halo, but with snowballs.
On Friday we drove into the city and walked around. Göteborg is a cruisy little city of 700 000 people, a really large shipping harbour and very gorgeous blonde swedish girls. In the evening we attended a party and became drunk. Fortunately almost everyone speaks English in Sweden.
The next day, Elda´s friend, Chris, showed us a few places around the city and coast in his very smooth ride, a Volvo. He really likes it too. The ocean was very calm and serene, but friken cold. In the evening we caught a train into the city and started drinking at a pub. James and I were very popular with the local girls owing to our accents (James is Candian btw). When we decided to leave, James continued on and we saw him the next day. He had not slept, but told us he had become intimately involved with about 8 or 9 Swedish girl´s lips. Oh my god, shoes! (in joke). On Sunday, we slept in and watch Animal Pranet and Arabic satellite television. The sun comes up at 1030am and goes down at 330pm (in Winter). The temp was around minus 4 at night, and minus 2 in the day. Running around in the snow kept us warm. In the arvo, Claudia and I flew back to Germany where is was windy, snowing and generally very German.
