The next morning I gave a workshop at the Broome Public Library at 830am with a group of 16 year old school students, which was received well. Following this I was rushed off to the airport by the Librarian and got on a small charter plane and flew to Derby. The view was amazing, huge river systems connecting to the ocean, varying land colours and very long and very straight roads.
Claudia caught a bus because apparently their were no more seats available on the flight, but on the plane of about 12 seats, only me another another woman were passengers. Not to worry, Claudia was able to check out another part of the land, and make a friend along the way. Once in Derby, I did another workshop with a small group of Aboriginal boys which went really well. Claudia arrived on the bus just after I finished and we went to get our car from Budget rentals, and we headed off for Fitzroy Crossing. We loved driving across the land. It was very different to anything either of us had ever seen. Vast plains of red dirt and strange trees and random bush fires.
