*Photos to come...*

Well I couldn't stay away for long and thought I had to fill you in on our latest 'adventure’, it really brings us down on the glamour points though…

When I last wrote we were stuck in traffic in Sao Paulo and as expected our journey got longer and longer as a result. On top of that we drove through a couple of thunderstorms and the ground started to look more and more waterlogged – not ideal for pitching tents!  After we had been on the road for 15 hours with only a lunch stop and one toilet break we were giving up hope of finding anywhere suitable that wasn’t a complete washout.  We pulled into numerous stops but nothing was a possibility until we finally pulled in to a gas station which had a reasonable patch of grass we thought wasn’t too bad.  Wading through a bog of mud to reach it with our tents we began pitching up underneath the big neon sign of the petrol prices!

Apart from this looking like the scene from a dodgy horror movie when we laid out our tents in the dark with our torches a few shrieks went up at once when we all discovered that our patch of grass was already inhabited by some pretty beefy spiders who preferred our tents to the muddy ground.  As there were no other options and our driver was on her last legs we were brave and got the tents up as quickly as possible and then shooed out any intruders before knocking back a quick cup of tea at 12.30am and setting alarms for a 5am start.  On the bright side though if we woke up in the night wondering what the price of petrol in Brazil was we could easy put our minds at ease!

Considering we were there for less than 5 hours we were quite unlucky to receive the downpour that we did for at least 4 hours that made a river into some people’s tents.  (Not ours of course as we had made barricades for the spiders that kept out the rain too)  All in all as no one was either poisoned, drowned or murdered by truckers it was a really funny night and a good bonding experience!

We’re on the road again now to Bonito (only a 12 hour drive today hopefully) and the caves although we’ve had time to asses the budget and we can’t stretch to the abseiling caving as there are still things we want to further along on the trip, sorry to get your hopes up.  However we are heading to the photo spot inside The Blue Cave instead on this on this stop which I’m sure you will hear al about soon.

Lots of Love,

Amy and Spider-man Steve

I'm still following
Great to hear from you again! I loved the pictures of Paraty, particularly those with boats & water.

I've read about your wet campsite by the garage. I shall be camping up a mountain in Snowdonia with school kids myself next week.

More photos of you, Amy & Steve please! I've read every word & look forward to plenty more.

Love Dad.

The stuff of nightmares
petrol prices, spiders and sleeping on the ground!
Love reading your blogs in the comfort of my dressing gown, tea tray and comfy sofa!

Life seems so dull here in comparasion,However yippee I passed all my exams, phew.

The chickens have kept me busy, I put some eggs in a box on the next door neighbours doorstep only to find a few hours later the tikes had managed to get into the box and eat the shells and yokes leaving a trail of slimy egg white all across the doorstep, yuck, took ages to mop up.

Hello other blogers, enjoy the camping Sam, can you take along some giant plastic spiders!
