Day 13. Took the bus to move our post to Amalfi. Here we had a villa just 2.5 kilometers outside of the city, only a 25 minute walk downhill along extremely windy moutain roads with no sidewalks. Not a bad walk, we did it multiple times, but a scary ride in a bus. The hairpin turns on a road that follows the outline of the mountains on the coast the entire way are alot scarier than mountains at home. At some points, there was only room for one lane. Today was one of the first rainy days of the trip. It would only rain the next morning and once again on the day we were leaving Amalfi. We got lucky with weather which stayed in the 70's the whole trip and plenty of sun. We sketched the Duomo in town today. Our villa is among the hundreds of lemon groves all over the mountains. We even had our own lemon garden that we were allowed to pick lemons from. The lemons in Italy are massive. Probably 3/4 the size of a football, and they eat every part of the lemon.
Day 14. Today was more sketching in Amalfi. We went shopping for food today and bought a 5 liter jug of wine. Wasn't bad.
Day 15. Ravello was todays destination. A picturesque city with beautiful views. Looks like an amazing honeymoon spot. The hotels there look incredible. I bought some leather sandals here :) Exciting.
Day 16. Today was Positano. We took the bus there and a boat ride back. I sat on the beach the whole day and sketched the mountain. I bought some alcoholic soda drink to try. Their sodas have an odd taste to them. I tried San Pellegrino one day and it was a mix between coke and root beer. This was a fruity tast with that coke/rootbeer after taste to it. Interesting.
Day 17. We checked out of our villa today and took a 2hr bus back to Naples so we could get our connecting trains to wherever. The bus ride was a crazy ride with winding streets the whole time until about the last 20 minutes. For dinner about 9 of us went out to the famous Da Michele pizza place that supposedly has the best pizza in Italy, also one of the settings for the movie Eat, Pray, Love and the book it was based off of. It was really good. Not disappointing.
