The first Kauri tree was saw was in fact the largest, the 'God of the Forrest' as it was known was said to of been between 1200 and 2000 years old. We decided to do a couple of the walks to see some of the other large trees that were situated deeper in the forrest. This is where we came across the 'four sisters', which are 4 large trees growing in close proximity. taking photos of the whole trees were pretty much impossible as the further we moved back the more foliage that got in the way. The last tree that we saw the 'father of the Forrest', the second largest tree in new Zealand. To give you an idea of the size of these trees Matt can be found posing in front of a tree that was nearly 17 meters in Circumference. The photo of our camper in front of the trees was in fact us trying to recreate a photo we saw in one of the guides.
