The trip from La Paz to Mulegé normally takes just seven hours. In our case it took a little longer because of the various military checkpoints manned (or "boyed") by kids with guns, and unscheduled stops at roadhouses. It felt like the driver wanted to make the journey seem even longer by playing back-to-back B-movies and crap action flicks at full volume.
Mulegé is a pleasant little town on an estuary on the Sea of Cortez. It is surrounded by palm trees and pelicans.
Eunate and I spent one night here in Manuelita´s guest house then decided to hit one of the beaches south of town. We did our shopping, stocking up for a week of camping, then set out for the highway to hitch a ride...
