Antigua Guatemala is a sweet little colonial town, that resembles San Cristobal De Las Casas on the outside. I came here to break my journey between San Salvador and San Cristobal I soon realised that it was as far away from the rest of Guatemala as Guernsey is. It's a very bourgeois, comfortable, clean, boring place. I didn't feel I was in Guatemala here, so I carried out my hoe-buying mission (Manuelito, my farming mentor back in Chiapas, had asked me to bring him one of those ENORMOUS Guatemalan hoes, which you can't get in Mexico), and then left town.
