A nice little town, with a nice little beach backed by a nice forest. A few too many bracelet-makers for my liking though. The "hippys" are all after a quick buck here too.

We did some fun stuff though. We hiked up to some waterfalls near the town and threw ourselves off them. The larger of the two was 10m, which is a long way if you're standing at the top. I lost manhood points bigtime on this waterfall: I stood there on the edge for about ten minutes, umming and ahhing and wondering whether the jump was going to kill me. Then Eunate just strolled right past me and threw herself off the ledge. I had to follow...

We also wandered up the coast to Playa Grande, final resting place for thousands of plastic bottles, sandals, and toothbrushes(?) that have been washed up on the shore. Costa Rica markets itself as an environmetally-sound destination, but the minute you wander off the well-kept track, you can see where all their shit gets swept.

Having said that, we had a great day on this huge expanse of sand, without another soul in sight. For those who are interested, the waves weren't all that bad, and I had them all to myself. I also got to surf in the nude, a little fetish fantasy I've harboured  for a while. It's a liberating experience...
